I am completely with you! Vegetables and beans for the dinner win.
I could go on and on, but I’ll leave with telling you I hosted a wine tasting the other day and someone who has subscribed to my newsletter for many many years shyly asked if I was a vegetarian. I was surprised and said no, but she pointed out most of the recipes I share are veggie based. It never even occurred to me.
I am also not a vegetarian, but most of my recipes are – and in fact, most are plant-based because of their low-calorie-density.
I am also passionate about the climate, but I think the narrative around meat is very counter-productive – with the ethical, biodiversity-supporting farmers going out of business, and and the food giants, with CO2 emissions dwarfing aviation and the whole of the UK, left to get on with it unmolested. My next but one newsletter will be on the subject.
It’s a tricky one for sure. Guilting people into making a choice is only met with resentment. And backlash.
Perhaps a better option is to ignore the finger wagging arguments and move forward with a simple, “look how great this is!” suggestion with no strings attached.
If people want to get there, they’ll come to it on their own, not by being chided into it.
Castelfranco is so beautiful. I often fantasise about having a dress made of its leaves.
Yes!!
That would be a great way to describe ruffles for a dress! Very ‘castelfranco-ish’

(I guess I did go on and on…)
I am greatly in favour of going on and on..
